In FSX you could file IFR flight plans and be put in the ATC system. Additionally there were maps and so forth to help plan the flight and execute it. None of that infrastructure exists in MSflight without 3rd party add-ons.
I’d never trust in-game ATC, anyway. Plan everything using ForeFlight or SkyVector, or if you’re into the airline thing, SimBrief. Use VATSIM for ATC, TDS GTN750 or the free Working Title updates to the G1000, and it’s even more robust than the previous versions. I’m having a blast in between RW flights that are getting incredibly expensive.
