Wow - things have changed a bunch since I last worked with any kind of simulation. At Miramar, we had an E-2 backend trainer that had live radar as a remote from San Clemente, and contractors flying MU-2s for intercept control training. Things have improved just a bit overall it seems!

Yeah I help do OpFor for some training scenarios. Not near as realistic as that, but still very stressful for the Guardsman we train.
