Microsoft Flight Simulator as a Training Aid

I often get questions about if and how pilots can use Microsoft Flight Simulator effectively as a training aid, regardless of the certificate/rating they're working on.

I've given presentations on this topic at EAA AirVenture, AOPA Expo, and other forums, and I finally compiled a set of links and information that I hope will answer many of the common questions.
