Mexican Inventor Builds D-I-Y Rocket Belt

'If he’s lucky, he will then be thrust 30 feet into the air, where he will fly for as long as 30 seconds, all while tethered to a 20-foot safety pole.'

It took me almost 5 minutes to get the image of Wile E Coyote out of my mind after reading that.

The guy's got my respect though.
He's got a goal. It's keeping him busy. He's staying out of trouble. If he really bungles it, he's not likely to hurt anyone but himself. And who knows, he might get it right and turn out to be the worlds next supergenius.

Blessed are the cracked for they shall let in the light.

This guy's amazing, even if I only share number 5 with him on my own list:

By his 20th birthday, in 1975, he’d made a list in the order of what needed to be done:
  1. Design and build a machine to make my own fuel.
  2. Invent a catalyst pack that’s more reactive than what’s available now.
  3. Design and build a rocket belt with new ideas about the placement of the nozzles and side tubes.
  4. Teach myself to fly the thing.
  5. Don’t lose all my money, or my life.
What an awesome story, thanks for posting!

His own website http://www.tecaeromex.com/ has a video of the test flight.
