I just finished my add on in one of those. I felt guilty for beating on that poor lycoming. They do have a hard life in that airframe.

I agree. Much more brutal than most airplanes see.

Sucks to find all that out, Loren - but better you found it now, than in the air after catastrophic failure!

Much like me - big case crack in my IO520; hated that it was there, but really glad I found it on the ground, not (say) 900'AGL climbing from takeoff...

They had just lifted when they heard the noise and immediately set her back down. Good call!
