Anyone have any idea if we will find out this year (2021) about the new regulation changes to Sport Pilots and Light Sport Airplanes, etc.?

I've got $20 that says we don't hear anything meaningful. Rumors and speculation, yes... actual information, no.

The reporting on this has been akin to "modern day journalism" where the sensational headlines are meant to capture you and lure you into fantasy land.

But what we will actually get, when and if we ever get it, will have the FAA oversight and guidance (read government rule) incorporated into it and as a result it will be a quite watered down version of the sensational stories we've been spoon fed thus far.

YMMV ... but I doubt it!

I've lowered my expectations for significant changes and am not holding my breath waiting for the new rules. I'm really enjoying flying my Zodiac, and if I need to take more than one passenger I rent a 172 or 182 from my local FBO.

Hi all. According to a Dan Johnson video I watched the new regulations will be in place by the end of 2022, as required by an FAA mandate. The new rules will be proposed this year ( at Airventure?) and then there has to be an allotted time for questions and comments, after which the regulations will become official.

Opinions on what proposed changes will actually look like, what planes may be possible under the new LSA umbrella? Just wondering. I know my beloved SR22 wont be included but one can dream.
