Adios!
I have a 530 that I would like to be able to remove and set-up in sim. mode at home. I believe there was a kit available to do this?

Thanks!

You can make your own "docking station" for about $20. All that's really needed is a 1a 12v supply and a connector. You can get both from DigiKey or most any other electronics distributor that sells retail (except Radio Shack and it's equivalent).

Your reading my mind lance! Happen to know which connector and pinouts?

You can download your own copy of the GNS-530 Installation manual at:

I don't think this manual includes the 530W but the pinnouts will be the same.

Grounding Pin 75 of P5001 put the unit in "Demo Mode".

Power is applied to P5001 pins 19-20

P5002 pins 11-12 supply power to the Comm Transmitter and should be left unconnected.

Ground is applied to P5001 pins 77-78, P5002 pins 21-22, and P5006 pin 41.

Also the IM says the GPS requires 3.6 A at 14 volts or 1.8 at 28v so I'd suggest a 4A supply at 12 volts or 2A at 24.

The manual also says that P5001 pins 15&72 are "optional alternate power" on certain units. I'm assuming they can be left unconnected.

P5001 is a 78 pin high density DB connector located between the nav and comm antenna inputs (i.e. near the center of the rear panel). P5002 is the only DB-25 on the unit and is located just above and to the right of P5002. Don't connect anything to P5050 (another 78 pin HD DB at the lower left corner) or P5006 (a 44 pin HD DB connector on the far right).

In the above description left refers to that side when viewed from the rear.

Outstanding Lance! Your the best!

We use powersupplies w/ covers for Commecial radio setups. I have a cover w/ Power supply that will make it work perfectly! Post pics when operational. Thanks again!!!
