Chick is the nick name of one of the original land owners, Chick Saunders. The street into the community is also Saunders road. These predate the airpark. Zeke Saunders (who still has a house just off the field) was the VP of Piedmont Airlines back in the day and built original strip there. Two US Air pilots extended the runway and developed it as a residential airpark.
Names the developers chose for the roads were Aeromarine Blvd, Catalina Ct, Clipper Ct, and Outside Loop (we are on the lake as well as a runway).

I love that airpark though I've only flown over it. It's on a great lake, near a great city, nice country side, etc.

Yep, we have several active airline pilots on the field: One US Air, one Delta, and two United (and a third United pilot owns a lot). The US Air guy is obviously based at CLT, but the United guys are based at Dulles (at least one of them) and commutes up here (he ends up as my sometimes house guest in my house right beyond the IAD fence).
