Yesterday I made it to the now famous Lee Bottom Fly In, on the Ohio -Indiana border. In late September, for one weekend, this little grass strip becomes the center of the antique, tail dragger, fabric cover aircraft world. It's a casual, camp with your airplane, grass roots event that continues to grow in popularity.

No airshow or military displays. Just a group of people that love old airplanes and work hard to keep them flying.

I was going to say there were no tricycles there, then I See Steve See! :)

Was there with Lenny Mack. I forgot my camera, although he might post up some photos. Very, very cool. We spent a couple hours just watching aircraft take off. Thanks for posting up the photos.

And his 1980 "antique" aircraft.

Also, there's a picture with a Trinnie and a Mixmaster, both tricycles. ;)

I wish I'd have been there! I see a couple of Swifts, a Chipmunk, a Fairchild, even a Bellanca Cruisemaster (aka "The Cardboard Constellation.") I sure would have liked to talk to some owners.

one of the guys here with a 180 hp 172 was there, came back last night. said he had a great time.

That's a beautiful panoramic shot, Gary.

It was good to see you again. Your photographic skills are as good as ever. I would have taken some pictures, but was having too good a time helping with parking planes (imagine that!)

We left this morning around 8:15 local. It was IMC on the field from 0' to 5' AGL when we took off. :)

Do you mean Leonard Mack from the Great Lakes Pilots?

Met him at the camp out a few months ago.

He posted on GLPA that he was there and had some pics to share.

Wow, I didn't see that in Steve's original post. Yes, that's definitely worthy of publication!

Lenny's photos can be found here. I thought he did a really nice job. I would have posted my own, but I forgot to bring a camera.

I have to credit Mike Cencula for the misty photo he emailed us after our return flight. He's from the Toledo, OH area, I believe (I met so many new people of like mind at the fly-in they kinda run together in the one memory cell). He's building an RV-7A.

Well, tell him all your friends say he should submit the photo to AvWeb then. ;)

Thanks for posting those. Haven't been on POA for awhile.

This was a great fly-in. I'll be going back next year.
