I am thinking of replacing my KX155 and the vor/loc indicator (i think a KI204)
with a new one(KX155 and KI209) with glideslope. Is this going to be a plug and play type of installation??

FWIW, both the KI204 and KI209 are glideslope indicators. They use a totally different wiring connector. The KI204 with rectilinear meters is a much nicer unit, besides the nicer display is is better constructed; more metal, less plastic. Early serial numbered units are no longer repairable (I THINK this is before SN 10000, but maybe it was 5000? Either way, look for one that says BENDIX/KING rather than just KING)

The KX155 should slide into the she same rack though. You should be able to have the indicator connector re-terminated for a reasonable price

I know the indicator does not have a g/s function.I will of course buy the install kit for both...I was just wondering if they would just connect with the harnesses . I think i'll need a G/S antenna?

Thanks

As far as the tray and connectors, the kx155 shoulf be a "plug and play" but you will have to add the pins for the G/S, and depending,KX155 or KX155A may need to change the backplate.
If you have a 155 without G/S you'll need to add the wiring, from the radio to the indicator, for G/S and an antenna.
Make certian that the connector is compatable with your new indicator. There are two indicators compatable with the kx155, but they require different connector.

The KI203 does not have G/S, the 204 does. The KI203/204 has rectilinear movement, which (to me) gives a better indication of situation, than the pendulum movements of the KI 208/209 units.
The KI203/204 use the same connector, and the KI208/209 use the same connector, but different from the 203/204.

That said, It shouldn't be too big of a deal.
PM if you need a backplate for KX155A.

anyone has an installation manual for the ki204, i can get a copy of ??

thanks for the replies.:)

thanks................
I have a a none gs indicator that i will move in the panel to make room for the new (gs) one.I will post a photo of the panel for reference tomorrow.

No GS antenna should be needed, you should be able to run a diplexer from the VOR antenna.

I have attached couple of photos of the panel........
I want to install the new indicator where the old one is and move the old one
to where the EGT/CHT is and move that to where the hobbs meter is.
The Old KX155 will replace the Apollo Gps and the new radio will go on top.
Will also install an audio panel where the intercom switch is located.

What I started with, and what I ended up with.
Albeit I replaced the kx155 VOR/LOC, with a mk12D VOR/LOC/GS.
But If I could have gotten a kx 155 with GS, for the same price I'd have gone with that instead.

how do you feel about having a single com?
I have a king handheld for a second radio that came with the plane......

Did an MX170 and a KI208 to a KX155 and KI209 swap last summer, was NBD

The GNC300 is IFR certified GPS/Comm. So I had dual comm, with one IFR GPS, and One GS.
