Knowledge Test Expirations

Does anyone know how long a knowledge test is good for? IOW: How long (weeks, months, years, etc) until a knowledge test expires?

I couldn't find the answer in FAR §61.35, but would like to see if others can shed some light on the question.

Don't have anything in front of me right now, but I seem to remember that knowledge tests expire in 24 months.
 
End of the 24th month following. IOW, if you took the test today (May 1, 2006) it would expire midnight, May 31, 2008.

The applicable regulation is:

§ 61.39 Prerequisites for practical tests.

(a) Except as provided in paragraphs (b) and (c) of this section, to be eligible for a practical test for a certificate or rating issued under this part, an applicant must:
(1) Pass the required knowledge test within the 24-calendar-month period preceding the month the applicant completes the practical test, if a knowledge test is required;
