Gonna pick up some friends and take them up for a Bay Tour that are traveling via car from Sacramento and gonna wind up in SF afterwards...was thinking HWD was a good spot to fly into to meet them and load up so I didn't have to pay OAK ramp fees for just opening the door and was not too outta the way for them to travel.

Have not done a PAX turn in HWD...Question: Is there a public terminal with transient parking available? Need zero services or fuel, just an access gate for my PAX.

HWD website and AirNav were not clear on options and the HWD airport office is closed so I am reaching out to the collective POA Hive for what my options are there for the AM other than an FBO if any.

If you are only picking up and dropping off, I discovered on google earth that there is a flying club on the Alameda side of the Oakland airport with a walk in gate. That would be right off the freeway for them enroute to San Fran. I'd bet anything there isn't a code in, but for a pick up drop off it would be perfect.
I haven't actually tried it though so maybe not the best idea.

Oakland Flyers? You can ask, but I'd ask Kaiser first. They haven't charged me fees for short stops.

You CANNOT get on the field without a SIDA badge or an escort from the FBO.

Just pulled up Alameda Aero Club up on street view...looks like a key lock turnstile gate...not a crash bar to be able to let someone though. Not getting in/out that without someone letting you in....so you are right...probably NOT the best idea!

Have used Kaiser a few times...including actually dropping off @TheGolfPilot there...but have always also fueled up.

Just called them to confirm...no charge for part 91 if you are there under one hour...so may be the better way to go than HWD...thanks for the tip!

There's a terminal-type building under the tower in Hayward that you can access from transient parking. I popped in to use the restroom there recently. Seems like it would be a good option.

This. I've used the gate near the tower several times. There is a little transient parking there and it's really easy to get to via car, since the parking lot is exactly on the other side of the fence.

Note the blue awning: that's the walkway.

Concord (KCCR) might be convenient for them, since they are driving from Sacramento. There is transient parking next to the Crowne Plaza Hotel, on the south end of taxiway alpha. The pedestrian gate is right behind the hotel. No fees for day use, and the hotel restaurant is decent.

Ended up at Kaiser Air at OAK per MAKG1's suggestion...zero fees for part 91 if you are there under an hour. Ended up buying some fuel anyway since we were up longer then expected and was more than happy to have them fuel me up for providing the no charge option if needed rather than having to be held hostage to buy fuel.

That is good to know. Makes dropping someone off by airplane a little more enticing.

I tied down at the main FBO for a couple years. No ramp fees, plenty of parking at APP.
They have moved to a new hangar at the south end of 29R, I believe. Used to be at far north end of ramp.
