Ok, Less than a month away. Lets discuss

How we doing this? Who is going? How is POA going to meet up?

I propose we all try to meet someplace and at least have lunch all together. I plan on getting down there early on Sat and hanging out there until late afternoon.

I figure we should post here if you are going so we can get a head count as well. Add on to my post if you are going.

    POA Name>>>>>>>>>Real Name>>>>>>>>>N#/type (if flying in)>>>>>>>>>>>Fri?>>>>>>>>>Sat?

I seem to recall a certain someone suggesting that I "GTS" very recently. Hmmmm now who was that?

Because what you were asking would taken 20-30 sentences to explain, and my thumb typing on my phone on poa would be exhausting.

I'm planning on going! I'll be walking around the fly in and leaving around 1 or so. It's my first fly-in ever so I'm really looking forward to it!

I signed up to volunteer, but that was before I decided to commit to buying a house. Have so much going on right now, just not sure I'll be able to make it. Still going to try.

Yup, supposed to be camping on Friday night and volunteering on Saturday morning. Haven't looked at weather for the weekend though!

Way too busy, unfortunately. I just spent 3 hours collecting and recording the grades for the first exam in my astronomy class. And I have about 35 labs to grade by tomorrow at 1300, which will keep me from prepping for my physics lecture Friday until sometime after 1800... and then I have to do it all over again starting on the weekend.

The only flying-related thing I'll be able to do this weekend is meet with a pilot who is interested in a non-equity partnership in my plane. Even that, I don't really have time for, but I'm going to have to make time because I need to stop my negative cash flow somehow, and I'd rather not sell the plane.

Now, where did I stash those labs?

Seems like it should be kind of like a VERY TINY Oshkosh. I'm planning on getting there before the masses (early) and leaving around lunch time. I think you have my phone #. Text me if you are going.

And if anyone else is going PM me- I'm going solo so I wouldn't mind at least walking the show at some point with someone who can nerd out with me.

So ticked off right now. Weather looks awful. Not looking like I'll make it. Here's hoping AOPA has another one around here real soon!

Crummy luck Neil! I also had to scrap the flight because of the low ceilings everywhere. Really, really bummed. I imagine attendance is going to be insanely low. That really stinks because it's doubtful AOPA will have one around these parts anytime soon. I hope they do though!

I'm starting to wonder why they picked KGON for this fly-in in the first place. I don't think I've seen any other airport in this region get fogged in more often except maybe KACK.

Yeah great point! I love Groton airport and its meaningful for me( first place I ever flew to on my solo as a student and where I made my first solo XC) but its location by the water makes it rough for foggy mornings.

I did my first solo XC there too and the approach in there is beautiful. It seems to go IFR more often than most coastal airports in New England for some reason.

I’ve done the approach to Groton several times, got my ATP rating at Groton. Had to miss it due to the sunny weather in Fla. Did make Tampa,it was great.
