iTunes Requires a Credit Card???

Is there really no way to download a FREE app from the App Store without having a credit card on file with Apple?

Thanks. The way the prompts are worded when you first start up the iTunes account, it makes it sound like you have to add a payment method. If you enter any information incorrectly, it simply says "Update your payment method" and I thought that "None" was not a valid choice. It turns out that you MUST enter address information, and that was what was throwing me.

Had to give Apple the good ol' Young America, MN address I made up:

123 Your Product Sucks Lane
Young America, MN 55555

I don't understand why I have to give any information to download a free app, but whatever, its not an Apple issue, that's a flat out "every company" issue.

Nick: I didn't like this either, but I did download Foreflight, so, I had to pay on line. I don't like open credit card charges or annual auto renew accounts (which Foreflight required).
