when you just found out that a plane you used to teach in a few years ago had an inflight fire and was totally destroyed on the ground. The pilot walked away unharmed. Apparently this happened July 28th. A former student just texted me about it. 2001 172SP.

Sure is. Flew our Aerobat last summer one evening, and the next flight the following morning had a catastrophic engine failure and went down in a field. Another Bell Long Ranger that I flew in several times crashed and killed all 5 people on board and the helicopter was completely destroyed.

Ouch. I would hate that. I often wonder what became of our original Skyhawk. I thought I heard it had been sold overseas. I just hope it's not running drugs.

Edit: I take that back. Mexico isn't "overseas". I think what I heard is it left the country.
