Yesterday evening I had the pleasure of meeting Joe Areeda, his longtime "girlfriend" (they've been together for something like 10 years) and her daughter. I had been fantasizing about a fun ride in his T-28 but our schedules precluded that but Joe kindly treated me to dinner at a nice restaurant with his family. I'm hoping he'll stop here in Minneapolis on his way to Oshkosh next summer so I can return the favor.
Amazingly it turns out that we both grew up in Detroit in houses that couldn't have been more than a few miles apart and both went to U of Mich at the same time.
This is part II because I also ran into Ed Frederick's father on the flight home.
