Ok I spend a lot of time in Southeast Asia, and certain apps (like, for example, streaming music applications like Pandora) don't work. They detect the local IP address and disallow access outside the US.

Is there are way, short of using a separate router, to access a proxy server on the Iphone so I can get a US IP address?

Look at web proxies. nph-proxy was a good one, that I used for a long time. Dunno if the iPhone supports proxies any other way though.;

There might be, but you'll have to jailbreak it first. A quick search found this. There are probably a lot more like it.
