Hello all,

I am a CFI here in the US, and am looking at possible jobs overseas, specifically southern Africa. The listing mentions they are looking for G3 or G2 flight instructors. What does this designation mean? I cannot find any search results for it. Any further info would be a great help!

Thanks for the link! I found the answer...at least for South Africa.

G3 stands for Grade III, G2 for Grade II and the same for G1. G3 is essentially the basic CFI here. G2 is comparable to CFII/MEI, and G1's analog is ATP. Of course the privileges and limitations are somewhat different than ours, but that's to be expected.

For reference this info is fully detailed in CAR 61.88 subpart 16. Unfortunately that takes the form of a 30mb PDF!
