As of September 2010 the Halifax County Airport was still listed in the FAA Airport/Facility Directory, but with the remark “Airport closed permanently.”

We seemed to be blessed here in NC.
I think I recall landing at Halifax before it closed. I definitely have flown into the new airport which is quite nice with a very nice building, which is to say that it is up to the standard of most of our county airports with long, newish runways, nice facilities and generally uncrowded.
I have to pinch myself as I remember, "we're not in Jersey any more".
