Now I want to know just how Adam knows this???:dunno:

Chris
Adam makes his living from knowing things. OTOH, maybe he got someone off on the Kachina Defense.

My burning question is why does Michael not know what he bought? Michael, I got lots of worthless....I mean, collectibles of great value to sell you.

Is that the same as a Viagra Kachina?
You know...the stiff legged two-seater???

Richard. I dunno if the're worth anything yet. from what ive seen on the net they go from 12 bucks to 2000 bucks. The old lady i am selling them for wants 1k for the set (12) seems thats what she paid for em 20+ years ago. Shes old, probly on her last years so i figure id see if i could help her at least enjoy her last years with some spending money. She wanted me to buy em...sheesh..i guess i dint tell her i have a plane that eats my money.

Michael-

Kachina dolls, even the handmade ones, can range from practically worthless to souvenir prices to very expensive based on whether they were crafted by a known artist, or have historical value (way older than 20 years.) I'd try to decipher the crafter's name on the base and do an Internet search, or call some reputable dealers in the Four Corners area (like Flagstaff or the Durango/Cortez area.) I am nowhere near an expert, but I lived in Kachina country for a while and "aquired" some myself. Your flash photo kind of washed the artist's name out so I can't help you there.

BTW "Mosa" is the style and/or name of the doll ("Mosa cat.")

However, as a measuring stick...dolls of that style which are truly handmade by actual Hopi tribal members can run from $150-$350 dollars each unless, as I said, the artist has gained some renown.

Or take your chance on Ebay ;)

Send me the artist's name (or more photos of some of the bases), I'll look into it and if I find they're a good investment, hell, I might buy them. Or a friend or two down in AZ who collect might be interested.

Chris I know lots of useless stuff. And yes the airplane did help me recall what they were called.

Adam,
I myself am a Font of information...

I suppose the trick is to be there when someone asks the question to which you know the answer...:)
