In flight broadband wireless connections

I am thinking of taking the new lap top with us on flights. Any info on broadband connections and connectivity while in the air ? I thought it would help with wx and other flight related info.

Probably won't work. You'll be line-of-sight to too many towers, and the system gets confused. Use your phone to attempt some data connections in the air and you'll see what I mean.

The only time I've had it work at all in the air was fairly low up near 6Y9, where the cells are few and far between (and there's basically no signal on the ground.)
