In another thread, aterpster mentioned the availability of a website that gives the locations of all IFR runways, which reminded me that I was searching a little while back for a database of IAPs in a format that could be consumed by software.
This is just for my own noodling, not for navigation.
I found a link to the 'Coded Instrument Flight Procedures' AeroNav product (http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/flight_info/aeronav/productcatalog/digitalproducts/nfd/) but I'm not completely clear from the description whether all IAPs are encoded in that database - the description calls out GPS/RNAV/overlay approaches which suggests that other types are not included (it's also a subscription product, but that's another matter).
I'm assuming there is some standard database out there containing approaches which is consumed by e.g. Garmin / Jeppesen and processed into their proprietary GPS database updates / charts etc. Perhaps I'm wrong.
