Virtually every missed approach I've seen has a structure where you perform some set of maneuvers and eventually arrive at a missed approach hold.

Now, you usually get some sort of request for intentions before arriving there, but you might not, and there is always the possibility of lost comms.

This approach terminates at a navaid without any hold. What do you do when you get there if you want to try the approach again? V108 PITTS V6 REJOY?That's not very obvious from the plate. The VOR approach has you use radial 044 to get to REJOY, also with no hold. Curiously, the two RNAV approaches do have holds depicted at REJOY. What if someone else is on the approach?

A missed approach procedure must specify a clearance limit and an altitude at the clearance limit but not necessarily a holding pattern. Most do, of course, but rarely does an aircraft actually enter the hold outside of training flights. I don't see how the absence of a missed approach holding pattern affects a potential lost comm situation.

Steven -- What would the controller's instructions be for this missed approach if no hold was being done?

Depends on what the pilot wants to do. If he wanted to try the approach again he'd probably be vectored to the localizer.

There is a sort reverse situation at Livermore (LVK). ILS has missed approach hold but RNAV(GPS) has no missed approach hold specified.
