As far as cowl flaps, CS props, mixture and gear, it's one thing to be able to operate them in a monkey see, monkey do pattern ops type manner, but being able to really make them work for you smoothly and in more extreme situations is a different thing.

Agreed. Sure wasn't covered in the high performance stuff. Heck, I can't even get a useful answer on constant speed prop usage either here or on various airplane specific forums.
 
I was rather shocked when I couldn't get the HP endorsement while doing my twin training in a Seneca II. Doesn't 200 HP + 200 HP = 400 HP?? LOL ;)
 
I would have thought the same until I just looked it up. Thanks for the joke, but I learned something by it.
