Higest Airport in US?

Telluride is the highest "commercial" airport (I guess that means scheduled service), but Leadville is the highest runway.

You got to go there and experience it! DA's of over 14,000' ON THE GROUND, during the summer!

If you get there, make sure Daniel or Ursula sign a certificate for you, stating that you "successfully navigated the airways to the highest airport in north America". It's a nice little momento...

The unsinkable Molly Brown was from Leadville. That place used to be the richest town in the west.

There are some private strips that are a little higher than Leadville. One is Possum Creek, Colorado http://www.mountainflying.com/airport5.htm
Part of the runway is lower and part of it is higher.

I flew to Leadville a couple of summers ago in my Tiger and it is an experience as is any true mountain flying in a normally aspirated airplane. They give you a certificate upon landing too. Very cool.
