At about 1730 PST Mt. St. Helens cleared her throat again with little seismic warning. Ash and steam to approx FL 35 with Easterly winds.

Light dusting of ash expected to reach the Central Basin around Moses Lake by about Midnight tonight and perhaps Spokane, depending on steering winds aloft... :(

Major urban areas on the West Side spared due to wind direction.

Nice weather, would be great to fly down, staying up-wind, and take a look. But I'm stuck on the east coast in meetings and won't get home until late Friday night. Oh well...

I happened to be in Las Vegas (for work--I hate casinos) and not watching the news. The first I heard about it was a SIGMET when I got my briefing for my flight home. The cloud was right across my flight path, but as I suspected, it had dispersed by the time I got that far north.

BTW, part of the reason I was there was for Mike Busch's Savvy Owner workshop. If you own an airplane, this is an EXCELLENT way to spend your time. His website is www.savvyaviator.com I expect to make back the cost of the course and the travel in less than a year. One of the major parts: He points out that when we buy an airplane we take on a whole set of responsibilities described in the FARs that we are never taught about. Though the course is mainly maintenance, he does cover these FARs. I cannot say enough good things about this course.

Good for you, Judy... Where was it I read, "A good pilot is always learning"?...
