Helicopter crashes on roof helipad of Grand Rapids hospital

An official with the FAA in Chicago told 24 Hour News 8 the helicopter was practicing approaches - known as "touch and go" - when it crashed at 11:02 a.m.

Really? I guess they should practice the sight picture and stuff.

That just scares me. To think the FAA is watching a helicopter in Grand Rapids do touch and goes all the way from Chicago. I mean WOW they are everywhere and seeing everything!!!

Whatshisname Molinaro is the official FAA "No flight plan was filed" guy for the midwest.

One report said that an FAA official was onboard the aircraft... certification ride of some sort, perhaps? That would suck... ;-)

You should be fearful of the fact it was an "uncontrolled" heliport!
