The AP is reporting that Jack Francis, a 61-year old pilot, had a heart attack while flying his C-185. He made a landing on a highway, and his three passengers, including his wife, escaped without injury. He took off from 06U, Jackpot, NV, and landed on Utah 30 near Park Valley, UT. He died at Bear River Hospital in Tremonton.

One of those rare(?) instances of a heart attack while flying. Sounds like he did a great job of bringing it down, though!

A pilot to the bitter end. He did his duty, and did it well. God be with him, and his family.

I am begining to believe that it happens more often than we think.

My friend Roger had a heart attack on take off, the out come was better than we thought possible, after a year of extensive medical treatment he got his class three back on special issuance.

I heard of a story of a guy, on his way home from a pinch-hitter course with his wife, having a heart attack and the wife saving them....anyone heard of this, I'd like it substantiated.
Anyone ever heard of other Pinch Hitter successes, I'm still working on my wife.
