Hi all,

I got home from work about an hour ago and shortly am heading up to Baltimore as my brother is getting married tomorrow - tonight's the rehearsal and dinner and so on.

Photos later if anyone wants to see them.

Of course we would. We're a community here aren't we? :):)
Yes and pictures of the reception when people get all silly would be nice too!!

AND THANKS FOR MAKING THAT SONG GO THROUGH MY HEAD.

I am sure it'll be there ALL DAY LONG, OH THE DO DAH DAY! :D:D

I can't play hookey on Fridays. Fridays are our billing days.

I'll be in my cube, seething.

what's funny is, I have sung that when I see Charlestown racetrack from the air. (ok, under my breath, don't need my CFI to kill me)

but now I see it's all over:

the Brit cheer for the world cup:

Two World Wars and one World Cup, doo dah, doo dah...

and there is a Capital One visa card out now that has that song... the savages pillaging something - but they have "turned straight" and have real jobs as camp counselors - he's the coxswain and he's singing it to the rowers... but I can't recall the words off the top of my head now.

Shortened Familiar Version

The Campptown ladies sing this song,
Doo-da, Doo-da
The Camptown racetrack's five miles long
Oh, de doo-da day

Goin' to run all night
Goin' to run all day
I bet my money on a bob-tailed nag
Somebody bet on the gray

Oh, the long tailed filly and the big black horse,
Doo-da, doo-da
Come to a mud hole and they all cut across,
Oh, de doo-da day

Goin' to run all night
Goin' to run all day
I bet my money on a bob-tailed nag
Somebody bet on the gray

I went down there with my hat caved in,
Doo-da, doo-da
I came back home with a pocket full of tin
Oh, de doo-da day

Goin' to run all night
Goin' to run all day
I bet my money on a bob-tailed nag
Somebody bet on the gray

Longer Version

The Camptown ladies sing this song
Doo-dah! Doo-dah!
The Camptown racetrack's five miles long
Oh! doo-dah day!

Goin' to run all night
Goin' to run all day
I bet my money on a bob-tailed nag
Somebody bet on the gray

I come down there with my hat caved in
Doo-dah! doo-dah!
I go back home with a pocket full of tin
Oh! de doo-dah day!

Goin' to run all night
Goin' to run all day
I bet my money on a bob-tailed nag
Somebody bet on the gray

The long tail filly and the big black hoss
Doo-dah! Doo-dah!
They fly the track and they both cut across
Oh! de doo-dah day!

Goin' to run all night
Goin' to run all day
I bet my money on a bob-tailed nag
Somebody bet on the gray

The blind hoss sticken in a big mud hole
Doo-dah! doo-dah!
Can’t touch bottom with a ten foot pole
Oh! de doo-dah day!

Goin' to run all night
Goin' to run all day
I bet my money on a bob-tailed nag
Somebody bet on the gray

Old muley cow come on to the track
Doo-dah! Doo-dah!
The bob-tail fling her over his back
Oh! de doo-dah day!

Goin' to run all night
Goin' to run all day
I bet my money on a bob-tailed nag
Somebody bet on the gray

Then fly along like a rail-road car
Doo-dah! doo-dah!
Runnin’ a race with a shootin’ star
Oh! de doo-dah day!

Goin' to run all night
Goin' to run all day
I bet my money on a bob-tailed nag
Somebody bet on the gray

See them flyin’ on a ten mile heat
Doo-dah! Doo-dah!
Round the race track, then repeat
Oh! doo-dah day!

Goin' to run all night
Goin' to run all day
I bet my money on a bob-tailed nag
Somebody bet on the gray

I win my money on the bob-tail nag
Doo-dah! doo-dah!
I keep my money in an old tow-bag
Oh! de doo-dah day!

Goin' to run all night
Goin' to run all day
I bet my money on a bob-tailed nag
Somebody bet on the gray

Nope but it beats what was running through my head this morning. I kept hearing Doris Day singing
Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.

I recently watched the pilot episode of "Dead Like Me" (a very fun show) and it ended with that song.

It took days to get it out of my head.

Thanks, Scott

/me goes off to his cube to seethe some more.
Que sera, sera, doo daaah, doo daaah

I was watching Dead Like me last night. Loved that show. There is a scene in the eposide with the guy form Will and Grace in the bar I hang out in Vancouver (where it was all filmed). I even remember when that scene was filmed because they would not let us in to hoist a few as they were filming.

But glad to help with the song

QUE, sera, sera, a doo doo doo, a dah dah dah. Oops.

My desk is all cleaned off and I'm ready to head to the outer banks with Karen and the kids for a relaxing 2 weeks.

I want to see the one someone takes with your camera ... of you with a lampshade on your head!

Lampshade is mild compared to the pictures some friends of mine took with the disposable cameras on the reception tables....

I'm confused. A not alltogether rare occurance, but how did I cause that song to get into your head? As for me, I happen to be listening to a little Pink Floyd at the moment.

Not an album, but itunes. Just finished Comforably Numb and Learning to Fly. I love this song!

Into the distance, a ribbon of black
stretched to the point of no turning back
a flight of fancy on a wind swept field
standing alone my sense reeled
a fatal attraction holding me fast, how
can I escape this irresistable grasp?
can't keep my eyes from the circling sky
tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I
ice is forming on the tips of my wings
unheeded warnings, I tought I thought of everything
no navigator to guide my way home
unladened, empty and turned to stone

a soul in tension that's learning to fly
condition grounded but determined to try
can't keep my eyes from the -circling- skies
tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I

above the planet on a wing and a prayer
my grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air
across the clouds I see my shadow fly
out of the corner of my watering eye
a dream unthreatened by the morning light
gould blow this soul right through the roof of the night

there's no sensation to compare with this
suspended animation, a state of bliss
can't keep my mind from the circling sky
tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I

A very good one. :) I've been on a "Wish You Were Here" kick lately m'self. (album and song)

Not you Frank, it is Elizabeth's fault ;). Look at her thread title.

Sorry I confused you by not stating that as such when I had quoted you.

Yeah, I saw the tread title after I asked. Like I said, confusion is not a rare state for me. :hairraise:

Well...hopefully by posting some Pink Floyd lyrics you'll soon be singing a different tune.

What belongs in that second set of quotes, Chuck?

Wish You Were Here is Yahoo! Music LaunchCast's #1 PF song ranked by popularity; #2 is Time.

Just listed to Learning to Fly for the first time, it's #28. I want a t-shirt, now, that says the whole "earthbound misfit, I" thing...

Funny thing about music...you can sometimes hear a song many times and just not pay much attention to it, and then suddenly it's like you hear it for the first time. That's the way it was for me with "Learning to Fly". Late one night I heard it and was stunned at the way the lyrics spoke to me. It's one of my all-time favorites now.

Oh, and speaking of coincidences, I was channel surfing just last night and went past WUFT Gainsville and low and behold, they were airing a Pink Floyd concert! The very next song after I stopped on that channel was....Learning to Fly!

Me paying more attention to what I post. Just a typo...

The one with the helecopter sounds (it seems to me) is a fav that often comes to mind, although not particularly welcome when I'm in a chopper or plane.

I think that is off of Dark Side of the Moon. But I cannot recall which song.

And here I had "The Friday Song" in my head:

Shanty

Gonna sit down in the kitchen
And fix me something good to eat
And make my head a little high
And make this whole day complete
Cuz we gonna lay around the shanty, mama
And put a good buzz on

Well pass it to me baby
Pass it to me slow
We'll take time out to smile a little
Before we let it go
Cuz we gonna lay around the shanty, mama
And put a good buzz on

Well there ain't nothin' to do
And there's always room for more
Fill it, light it, shut up
And close the door
Cuz we gonna lay around the shanty, mama
And put a good buzz on

We gonna sit around the kitchen
Fix us somethin' good to eat
And make ourselves a little high
And make the whole day complete
Cuz we gonna lay around the shanty, mama
And put a good buzz on
Cuz we gonna lay around the shanty, mama
And put a good buzz on
