Gyroscopic force explained without the math

It's a cute idea, but it is rough. It does motivate a solution, but it's not precise.

A spinning gyroscope has gravity operating on all parts of it at once. The key point in precession is to figure out that the torques add rather than cancel, depending on where you look on the surface.

Rod Machado has a description of this effect in his instrument book, over less than a page. It's the best I've seen anywhere.
