I know that there are some King transponders out there that exist and are drop in replacements for earlier models. Does anyone know if this is the case for the GTX327 and GTX320A models from Garmin? I can't for the life of me figure out why the previous owner of my aircraft installed a GTX320A when the 327 was available, and had been for a bit. However, judging by his upgrades (or lack thereof) to the rest of the panel, I guess I can guess why.

Bought it used maybe?

I'm pretty sure the GTX-330ES is a slide in replacement for the 327, but I dont think for the 320A, but not sure.

To my knowledge, no Garmin transponders are plug-in replacements for any other Garmin transponder, but I'd have to call Garmin before I could say for sure. If you really want/need to know, try 866-739-5687.

The 330 es can be ADSB out. Not a slide in for the 327.

since I've done this, no, the 330ES is not a slide in replacement since it's about 2 inches longer
