Zoom out, Nick... it's Bermuda. Unless Guam moved to east of Florida! :)

I hate to reactive an OLD thread, but I think I have determined that this island is, in fact, Aruba. I thought Bermuda was further south.

Sorry Nick, Aruba is off the coast of South America. This looks
like Bermuda, zoom in on the airport and compare it to this

So, what is creating that shadow? Can't be someone on the ground, the building shadows would be huge if that was the case. (twilight zone theme runs through head.....)
Using GoogleEarth, you can zoom in a little more. It appears to me to be smoke from a small fire, well off the taxiway. (FYI, this is the international airport at Munich.) But the resolution isn't sufficient to be sure.

Nope, it's Bermuda. Aruba is down in the ABCs off the north coast of South America.

What scares me is, I looked at all this with only the vaguest recollection of having read it before.

Here's an Alaska Airlines 737 climbing out over the Columbia River, on departure from KPDX Rwy 28R. Zoom out a little and you see my home field, KVUO, just north of the river. Just to the west is the I-5 Interstate Bridge.

What do you mean "hooked up? I see he recently bounced off the top of a wave and I also see he is running perpendicular to the current because his wake is offset slightly towards downstream.

Look at that same image on Google Earth, tilted to an oblique view (type in "Vancouver, WA," then zoom in to the river just south of Pearson Field). The 737 looks like a river barge with wings. :D
