..quick flight up to Lake Murray State Park (1F1) today for early supper (had to leave before dark, lights OTS). Nice place, looks like a really nice golf course (but I am no golfer), golf clubhouse is adjacent to tiedown area.
Strip is 2,500', paved and in excellent condition.
There are cabins for rent from the park, the lake's a hop/skip away, and we dined at Fireside Dining, a tolerable walk away although the owner of the place came and picked us up.
Excellent food, fine and neighborly service, and all in all, a magical experience.
Afterwards, overflew McGehee's Catfish (T40), was circling the restaurant before I finally managed to recognize the runway. Does look a little challenging (narrow, short, obstacles and bumpy-looking). I think I'd be willing to do it in a 172 or Cherokee, but only light and cool.
Spike says: check it out.
