Re: A sad day for geeks everywhere

Not a D&D player? I'm beginning to doubt you're even an engineer!

Re: A sad day for geeks everywhere

I heard that yesterday and it took me back to all of my role playing days (well non-adult role playing! :D).

Rest in peace Dungeon Master. :(

I may have to dust off the books and play a game or two in his honor.

Re: A sad day for geeks everywhere

I heard they were going to bury him in his parent's basement.

Look at post times. William beat ya to it by a good 5 hours.

*rolls dice*

You fail your saving throw against tripping. You drop the casket.

:hairraise:

You continue to bring great joy and fun to geeks' lives Gary, rest well.

I'm an engineer and I never did even try to get into D&D, but I'm conversant.

But of all the epitaphs everyone threw out, I like Penny Arcade's the best.

Me either. There's a few months (years) of my life saved.

I still remember the day in the 1970s when I walked into a comic book store.

There were some nerdy guys sitting around a table. This is what I heard:

-- "Did you figure out what you weigh yet?"
- "You mean, me, or me and the truck?"
-- "I mean everything."

I always wondered what somebody who didn't grok the context would have thought of hearing that.

I was an avid role player growing up, and now play online role playing games that have been inspired by his work.

Gary Gygax was responsible for making all of that possible.

And I plan to sue his estate for damages related to the number of times I got beat up in high school for being a geek. ;)

Seriously - Roll In Peace, GG.
