Wife and I have decided to take a flying vacation this year.
We will be launching from JEF (central MO) heading east.
Beyond that we will have no plans what so ever. Looking for interesting places to land, stop for the night, just things to see.
We are restricted to paved strips due to being a rental.
Also what is it like in the mountains in the east in the spring?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mark B

N99 (Brandywine) has a helicopter museum on the field. Ther's probably other stuff in the area since George Washington & his army were in the area.

You probably can't land there, but Old Rhinebeck in New York is a good place to spend a day (there are airports nearby). Do the Hudson River tour while going up there. As a kid, I liked visiting Block Island (BID), but I came by boat.

On the way east, stop at Dayton, OH and spend a day (or 3) at the Air Force Museum.

That should get you started.

Maine has a surprising number of good spots out on the coast if y'all really want to get (far) away from home. I'm sure Lawreston could give you more recommendations than I can.

I beleive Brandywine is now KOQN not N99.

YIP has the Yankee air force museum on the airport.

3W2 Put-in-Bay is a nice Island destination.

IAG at Niagara falls is a nice area with a Casino on the Canadian side.

Head to NC and hit FFA!!

I flew out there for vacation. I did not land at FFA as I was parking for the week, but flying in an visiting Kitty Hawk would be a cool thing to do.
