AOPA has always had their "Flying Clubs" document, but now they've added a whole new section that addresses all aspects of creating and managing a new flying club:

http://www.aopa.org/members/pic/ac/flyingclubs/

It looks very complete, covering topics such as:

  • Organizing a Flying Club
  • Finding and Financing your Club Aircraft
  • Club Operations
  • Flying Club Costs
  • Taxes
  • Insurance
  • Club Challenges
  • Safety
  • Flight Training
  • Promoting the Club
  • Sample Articles of Incorporation and Sample Bylaws
  • Sample Flight Rules
  • Preventative Maintenance
  • Aircraft Ownership
  • Flying Club Articles from AOPA pilot and AOPA Flight Training magazines

As this is a question that comes up for consideration often in these forums, I'm glad to see that AOPA has provided some expanded (not simply 'repackaged') guidance on the subject.

Are you starting one of your own ?

Have been involved in several, including being on the BOD as VP of a 3-plane 20-member club.

Not currently in a club, but would love to start one (there's not many in Fort Worth, go figure... more choices in Dallas, yet FW is projected to become a bigger population city than Dallas within the next 5-10 years).

Would like to have several TAA aircraft, all with G1000 panels, to ease the transition between planes. DA42, C172, C182...

*drool*

Did you really mean DA42? If so, I'm moving to Texas. :D

Of course, an all-G1000 club might be incentive enough too...
