We had some weird altitude assignments heading into and out of Jacksonville (north/south). I've read somewhere that Florida has Odd-north and even- south due to our state being narrow and long. Does anyone know more about this?

Near the Florida and Georgia border, a majority of the airways change direction from say 175 to 185. Or from 005 to 355. So the controlling agencies have to coordinate an acceptable altitude for the next sector. So the rule doesn't go out the door, it's just that the next sector has room for you at an incorrect hemispherical rule. But that is normally temporary for a while. Check out T208 at sahnd intersection near mayport jetties. Or any north south airways near the CRG vor.

If you are on an assigned heading, I don't think it matters. I guess you are either IFR or FF?
