Does anybody know if flight training (the fee paid to an independent CFI) is taxable in NJ?

I know that the rental would be.

Dunno, Mark. When I lived there I just paid independent CFIs in cash. I have no clue whether they should have collected tax...

The reason that I ask is that I pay the CFI in cash as well - using the rate without tax.

The club has switched to MyFBO.com and they are generating invoices through that site for us. They show the instruction as taxable but are offsetting it exactly with cash (since we still pay the instructors directly). I wanted to find out and straighten them out if necessary.

depends on if "services" are taxable in NJ. In AZ they are not.
So you can tax the rental of a plane but not the flight instruction.

Michael,

That is one SICK avatar.

Hey, you changed it!
