Flight Following Conditioned on Unreasonable Descent

How can you possibly take a flight "to look at some property locations" without navigating purposefully to where that property is, at least in general terms? Context is rather important.

As in, "this little town looks interesting; I'll note the north end is more attractive, and give it a look next time I'm driving over here".

Then,
"I think I'll follow the river a bit, see what looks good on the east side" where I notice some larger homes with out buildings, and some prepped lots.

I don't need FF for that, do I? I mean, I don't need FF at all, to navigate to a specific location, either. . .

If you like FF, good on ya, run with it. I find it has low value to me VFR, flying for fun, with no particular place to go - like taking the convertible out for a drive in the country, it's flying for flyings sake, looking around, enjoying the experience, sans the noise in the headset. . .
