The thought of a LSA manufacturer being a GAMA member has been laughable... until now. PRESS RELEASE
Apparently, the development of the C4, EASA involvement, and their stature in the LSA world has opened some exclusive doors...

Ummm...why? Are (were) there membership rules in the General Aviation Manufacturer's Association that precluded General Aviation manufacturers building LSAs?

It's just been that way... the LSA people weren't viewed as "real" GA manufacturers. My brother has attended GAMA meetings where the topic of including LSA members came up... and went down quickly with a smirk and a chuckle. Technically, there was a provision for manufacturers with EASA-compliant aircraft to become members. FD recently got the CT EASA certified, and is working on the C4, a 4-place certified aircraft.
