A little after 5:30 Friday afternoon, I got handed off to one of the Bay Area's Norcal Approach sectors on my way home, and a couple of minutes went by before there was enough of a gap for me to check in. The controller was as busy as a one-armed paper hanger dealing with, among other things, Fleet Week air show traffic finishing up, including "Blue Angel 10." It was a real tour-de-force on the controller's part!

"Fat Albert" using Blue Angel 10 now? Was Blue Angel 09 when I worked them on approach years ago.

I just checked LiveATC, and it was definitely 10.

Listening to the recording, the busy period didn't last as long as it seemed at the time.

I had to hold for Blue Angel 10's wake turbulence last Saturday at Mather. Big ole bird.

Yeah, I think "10" is their MX bird. It was just out here recently when they were performing in Reno, and I seem to remember them using that call sign. It was unpainted, just grey, and came to Fallon to pick up some Hornet parts.
