I'm trying to remember a FL school's name that I remember reading on here for accelerated training. The husband was the instructor and the wife was the examiner if I remember correctly.

Bottom line I have dragged my IFR training out and I'm freakin tired of it. I technically have all the requirements done but I need to get back on the horse get back up to speed and get this damn thing done. I live south of Atlanta and was thinking of getting to FL and away from home to do this. Needing to try to find a program where I can knock it out and not wait around on a check ride for a month. the husband/wife combo makes me think they could get it done.

Anyone remember their name? If not a very solid option? I have my own plane but no GPS installed, will be ILS/LOC/VOR on the approaches.

Thanks

Not the husband/wife outfit, but SunState Aviation at KISM is well known for accelerated programs and run a class operation IMO.

Tailwheels in Lakeland FL has a great accelerated program. Did my PPL there.

Another solution to visit with is Professional Instrument Courses http://www.iflyifr.com/.

That you don't have a GPS is no big deal for them, and they can provide an instructor who is familiar with your particular aircraft and very willing to teach you how to make the most of it, even without a GPS. And the instructors are not afraid to take you into actual IMC conditions should the opportunity present itself.

Call Donn H. at 1-800-I-FLY-IFR to discuss what you need and how they can help you.

PS. Discuss with him the 12 or 14 day option versus the usual 10 day they offer. The additional days are worth having in case you need the additional time, or experience a "weathered in" day.

And don't forget our own Jesse Angell.

From what I've seen Darren Smith in Tampa is pretty good. He created a lot of cool IFR training tools and does intense programs. If I was in Florida, thats who I would train with.

If North Carolina works, Scott Best is very reasonable. Will put you up and you can use his plane. Called obx flight. He's out of garner(Raleigh) NC.

:yeahthat:

Just finished my instrument rating with him at very, very reasonably costs. Probably the best flight instructor I ever met. Very nice guy, too.
Logged over 10 hours of actual IMC during the training.
