Does anyone know of a utility running on Windows XP that *really* works to read and repair corrupt jpg files? I've tried a few free/demo utilities that seem to suggest that my jpg files can be salvaged. And in some cases, the preview pane of the file looks fine in XP...in other cases, files can't be previewed. Pretty bizarre.

The story is that I purchased a new camera and it seems that I can successfully copy the digital images to my computer, delete them from the camera and a few weeks later they can't be viewed. I do not believe it is the camera (Sony), memory stick or the utility that copies them to the computer since I've been able to view all of them on the computer just fine immediately after copying them. Moreover, I have had images from another camera become corrupt as well on this same computer. It only seems to have affected images that are less than 1 year old. Older image files seem to be just fine and I've not noticed any other file types to be affected.

If anyone has any suggestions of a utility that might work even if there's some cost. It might be as many as 100 or 150 images.

Thanks!

Scott,
Have you tried to copy the 'corrupted' jpeg files to another PC or laptop to see if you can access them?
You can find other tips/suggestions on fixing corrupted files in this link. Good luck.

I'll check this out. And yes, tried copying them to a different computer and different drive and still corrupt.
