Financing Options??

You just gave me an idea... creative financing. Imagine this ad in Trade-A-Plane:

Too many miles. The neighbor just bagged a used Charger Hemi with 9 miles on it that came from a dealer that lost his Dodge franchise.

My bank who had said, "We want that loan when it comes due" meant to add it my HELOC. Not gonna happen.

The First of Prior OK loan officer called me back. It's doable but they have a lot of fixed fees and higher rates. I.e. A $500(?) application fee if you borrow $200K or 12K

The local bank where I am told me my renewal was approved and the rate is good, so I'm set until payoff...knocking on vinyl...I hafta sign today or tomorrow.

Now if I could just stop thinking about buying a car. It's hell being a grownup.

maybe i should just hit the local payday loan place. bet they would give me money.

mike - how many cars do you have?

I have 3 cars for three missions - minivan for occasional (*sigh*) home hauling, convertible for summer fun and cruising, and sedan for comfort and other.

It's sorta like how you need a 6 seat plane and a biplane...and the helicopter.

That's part of the point of me car shopping. It's been a pain just managing the three car's license, maintenance and insurance. I'm thinking a crossover SUV will let me cut it down to 2. :D

I'm thinking Lincoln MKX...and I'm wondering how mortals buy those...or OK, Ford Edge. *sigh* again. BTW, damn Ford at Oshkosh all to hell, but I was already insane before I looked. I was thinking car but the crossover solution is this week's madness.

The funny? I can only Cash for Clunkers the Olds Silhouette if I get a 2WD and I want AWD. The AWD model misses by 1 MPG.

I'm waiting 'til Spring. It's hell being a grownup.

When I bought the Jeep a few years ago, I was getting paid with a 'company' personal check. I needed the funds to be immediately available so I could pay cash for the Jeep. The bank has a '$100 available immediately, remaining balance is available after check has cleared'. I went to the bank and said "Here's the deal, I need these funds available immediately." They said "Sorry, we have to hold it until it clears." I said "Fine, I'll go to a loan shark place and have them cash it for me." They said "No no no! Let me ask the branch manager." 10 minutes later, the funds were credited to my account.

Isn't it ironic that ALL of the currently produced full-size pickups missed the MPG requirements by ONE MPG. What a coincidence, huh!?

The part I find amusing is that Toyota has benefitted the most from the program. Woohoo! Go team!

well it would be tough to limit the program to "American" car companies. Ford can only build so many Focii and only so many people will buy one.

Why amusing? Where were most of those Toyotas made?

(My Acura/Honda was made in Marysville, Ohio. My Mercedes in Tuscaloosa Co., AL)

Lest you think I'm not a mortal, the cars are 1991, 1997 and 1997 respectively. I (re-)decided to sell the Sable now and use the Mustang as a daily driver through the winter.

Part of the reason for all the cars was redundancy when you have old cars - increase the odds that one is usable.

Oh. I may go for a Lincoln Aviator as a stop gap for a few years. Dunno why I would want to do that. :D

My VW was made in Mexico, my BMW in South Carolina, and my Honda in Ohio.
My Subaru was made in Indiana... or maybe they just pasted the decal on the window for grins.

A coincidence like the max gross of light sport aircraft?

(Tried out the fit in the Taurus SHO at Airventure. The interior is too...I dunno...boy racer.. for this old man.) The MKX is same platform.

I even considered a Mini. I'm wondering if I can fit. Stop laughing!

Sorry guys, unless your vehicles are of very recent vintage they weren't assembled here. The Marysville plant made motorcycles (one of which resides in my garage and is likely to stay there, since it don't start) until very recently.

Hmmm. The source for my information was Wikipedia, so it's certainly possible it's wrong. Further research shows that it may actually be the East Liberty, OH plant, not Marysville, OH. I'll try to remember to look on the car this afternoon.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acura_CL said:
The Acura CL is a model of automobile manufactured by Honda's Acura brand from 1997-1999, and from 2001-2003. The CL is often thought to have been a replacement for the Acura Legend coupe. All Acura CLs were built at Honda's plant in Marysville, Ohio alongside the TL and the Honda Accord upon which the Acuras were based. The CL was the first Acura to be built in the United States.

In any case, I think it points out how much US involvement there is in "foreign" brands, and I believe that the converse is also true; there is a lot of "foreign" involvement in US brands. It is no longer true that these large companies can be though of as belonging to one country. They are truly international.

OTOH, this has little to do with financing options! :)

You should be able to do a VIN de-code to find the actual assembly plant.

You might consider the new Fiesta for nice Sunday drives through the countryside...

The Mini is surprisingly spacious. I actually fit in one with lots of room to spare, although my problem is height, not width. Try one out.

I agree, what makes an "American" car is questionable these days since many foreign owned companies are producing cars in this country. Dollar for dollar wise, those cars tend to keep more money in the US than the Fords built in Mexico and Canada, but theoretically the American-owned companies keep more of the higher education jobs in this country.

Now if only the big three could get their balls loose from the unions...

A Cherokee 140/180 has a cabin width of about 42"; we feel very spacious in a Cherokee Six/Lance at 49".

The Mini Cooper? A whopping 53.9" of elbow room, 50.9" of shoulder room. You shouldn't have any issues, even with head room, up through about 6' 4", then it gets a little tight.
