Fear of Leaning the Mixture too much

Didn't you say that aluminum couldn't be soldered? then get proven wrong? Re-read the thread. No where did I say the door could be soldered. Trying to spin it to be my statement when you were the only one hung up on the solder issue

The engine will give you plenty of warning, rpms drop off rapidly when you get on the lean side of the curve.
 
I don't know much, low time student, but am curious at what makes this diffent for you than all the other similar things we practice like stalls, spins, crosswind landings, etc. ?
You went through all those, which at first are pretty scary situations, so that you become comfortable with your reaction and that you can recover.

Personally I like the idea of actually making the engine die, to see that it starts again, and get the fear normalized, take away its hold on you?
