Most covers of " please come home for Christmas" with Don henley being favorite. Lots of others, this one stands out.

"Quiet Christmas Morning in the Colorado Snow", Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.

Mel Torme's original version "The Christmas Song"

I like the Christmas by the temptations songs and Leon redbone and Zoey's baby it's cold outside

Do You Hear What I Hear...

Robert Goulet version

O Holy Night has always been my favorite. For some reason it brings up fond memories of Christmas while growing up. Especially the Nat King Cole version.

Well, there was the Navy version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas", but I don't think I can post it here without violating the PoA RoC.

The entirety of The Messiah.

The Messiah isn't exactly a Christmas song though it does cover the birth of Christ in part.

Some of my favorites:

I usually start playing Christmas songs on the Piano around Thanksgiving and continue throughout the season some of my favorites:

Angels We Have Heard On High
Carry A Touch, Jeanette Isabella
Good King Wenceslas
What Child Is This
Oh, Come All Ye Faithful
Hark the Herald Angels
Rise Up Shepherd and Follow.

and some of the more modern:

Little Drummer Boy
The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire...)
Mele Kalikimaka
We Need A Little Christmas
I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
Holly Jolly Christmas
I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day

Then some I can't categorize.

The Huron Christmas Carol
The Cherry Tree Carol
Mary's Boy Child (this song I detested when I first heard it, but it's growing on me...fun to play on the piano at least).

While it's not necessarily a Christmas song I always treated Tom Paxton's Marvelous Toy as one.

I've never understood why several of my books think "My Favorite Things" is a Christmas song.

If I never hear Dominic the Donkey again it will be too soon.

Can't ignore this one, "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas."

The grandkids LOVE it.

I concur about the Penatonix kids. Seriously talented
I have been listening to this one a bit

This is also pretty funny...
Edit : wrong link. Something broken in my stuff here.

The whole "Twisted Christmas" album by Bob Rivers.

Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer.
Walking Round In Women's Underwear

The John Gary Christmas Album.

The entirety of The Messiah.

Personally, I dislike singing Handel's Halleluiah Chorus - too high, too loud for too long for this geezer who has lost too many notes off the top of his range...

It's hard to pick a favorite, there are so many works out there.

We sang this today

Another carol that l've aways liked:
The old modal style of composing seems to have interesting harmonies.

O Holy Night is my favorite carol. Don't really have a favorite person who sings it, since many have done a beautiful job. More than any other song, it can bring me back to what all this hoopla is really about.

Another one I love is Francesca Battistelli's "You're Here." I love the lyrics & her voice.

How can you not like a piece with parts like "Beautiful are the feet" and "we like sheep."
Handel had some kinky fetishes.

Root Boy Slim's "Christmas at K-Mart"

Nauga,
and the ******** from Nashville

"The Elves Rescue Xmas Day," from the Futurama Episode, "A Tale of Two Santas."

We are free and fairly sober
with so many toys to build
The machines are kind of tricky
probably someone will be killed....

Ron "We're adequate!" Wanttaja

It's one of my favorites, too. Lately, I've been gravitating to Martina McBride's version. This one is acapella:

I think this song demands a big voice and I've never heard it done better.

A number of years ago, Loreena McKennitt did an album of winter songs, most of which were 18th and 19th century carols from the British Isles. It's a nice antidote to the more commercial sound that we usually hear. Here's a sample:

I think the title is......."Chipmunks Roasting On An Open Fire"...... not really sure, but those are the lyrics I remember from it..........."Chipmunks Roasting On An Open Fire, Jack Frost Nipping At Your Nose........"......... or something like that.

I agree the song requires a big voice, and she did nothing for me. The first time I heard this version on the radio I got goose bumps - Michael Crawford was the Phantom on the original cast of the Phantom of the Opera in London and then on Broadway.

Your memory seems to be an amalgum...

Chipmunks Roasting on an Open Fire by Bob Rivers Comedy Corp
Chipmunks roasting on an open fire
Hot sauce dripping from their toes
Yuletide squirrels fresh-filledted by the chior
They poked hot skewers through their noses

Everybody knows some pepper and a garlic clove
Help to keep make them seasoned right
Tiny rats with a crisp golden coat
Will really hit the spot tinight

And now when Santa sees his tray
There'll be some homemade chipmunk jerky for his sleigh
And every hungry child is gonna spy
To see if chipmunks really sing when they fry

And so I'm brushing on some honey glaze
To keep them crisp and juicy too
Let's hope they get served, many times many ways
Tasty chipmunks, good food

And so I'm offering some recipes
From chipmunk pie to chipmunk stew
I'm not really sad that it ended this way
Furry chimpunks...screw you!

The Christmas Song by Robert Wells and Mel Torme
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe
Help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight

They know that Santa's on his way
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh
And every mother's child is gonna spy
To see if reindeer really know how to fly

And so I'm offering this simple phrase
To kids from one to ninety two
Although it's been said many times,
Many ways, Merry Christmas to you

And so I'm offering this simple phrase
To kids from one to ninety-two
Although it's been said many times
Many ways, Merry Christmas to you

I also like "I'm spending Christmas at the airport" ( the fog is rolling in, don't send me any turkey, I found a burger in a bin" ) etc. complete with slightly off key chorus.
