I was in the pattern at my airport which shares the CTAF with Clow (1C5) this afternoon.

I heard an Aero Commander (sp?) call left downwind 18. Then right as I was about to land I heard:

Aero Commander Emergency Landing 18 Clow. I thought that was odd phraseology, as I would normally say simulated emergency landing.

I heard someone (not sure who) said there was an engine out and was attempting to land. I don't think it was the pilot though.

I heard nothing else, then as I was about to call clear, I heard:

All traffic avoid Clow. There is an emergency at airport.

Right after that, I heard a couple of people trying to reach the Commander. I was on the ground, so it was possible that I wasn't hearing all of it, but it sounded like they were not able to talk to the pilot.

I have to say I thought I was going to be sick.

On the way home I didn't see any smoke around Clow. And nothing on the news, so I am assuming they were ok. But man that was scary.

Hopefully they are fine. And hopefully I will never hear something like that again.

What time was it? I flew into Clow around 6:30pm and all was quiet. I assume you're at LL10?

Around 3:00 yesterday. And yes Naper.

Obviously whatever it was, ended well.
