EAA petition about user fees

Unfortunately, Americans aren't accustomed to this on the national level because congress routinely borrowed the money needed and went on with life.

Who did they borrow it from?

There is no such thing as government borrowing, only dilution of monetary value.

Borrowing something you create, is impossible.

"The government is broke" is in many ways, a lie. If it were, it would truly be getting smaller.

Is FAA's budget bigger or smaller next year? How about Law Enforcement? Congressional travel costs?

It's about priorities, not being broke.

They did the same thing with Sun 'N Fun ($150,000 I believe) and unfortunately SnF caved in and paid, setting a bad precedent

Note: I heard rumors that SnF bill was over $200K but can't verify it.

$285,000, and about half of that was picked up by a Florida tourism group.

SnF probably caved because the notice was too short...EAA has had nearly three months' warning, and they still don't know what they're going to do. The other difference is that the news that SnF was going to be billed raised zero outrage in the pilot community. Had EAA, AOPA, etc. got together and fought it THEN, EAA may not be in the fix it's in, now.
