I have a DVD file in "VOB" format.
It is about 450Mb. (huge)
Do I have to buy software to shrink its size to a more reasonable 5-10Mb?
How about to edit out sections of the movie?
Thanks

Depends on what the VOB is. VOBs are usually multiplexed dolby digital audio streams and MPEG-2 video, and usually are encrypted. If it has standard chapters and "extra" goodies like DVDs, then you can use DVD-Shrink (http://www.dvdshrink.org/what.html) to edit and re-author it. Take a look at http://www.doom9.org/ for all sorts of tutorials and free tools.

I would guess it may be tough to get it shrunk to the size you are hoping for, unless the VOB has lots of unwanted stuff.

I've got Pinnacle ver. 8. The edit functions work pretty well, though rendering is slow (that on a 2.6 GHZ machine with 1.5 GB of RAM). Version 8 does not import from the internal DVD drives, I think 9 does.
