Are all Garmin Nav/Comms - I'm looking at a 430 - dual 14 or 28v capable? If they aren't all dual voltage capable how can you tell from the front of the unit or there should be a tag on the rear indicating voltage?

Looking at Garmin 430 in a Cessna 414 which is 28v to put into a 14v Grumman Traveler. Garmin unit hasn't been pulled from the 414 yet to confirm.

They are not all dual voltage. The GPS section is, but some require 28V for the comm section. The tag on the rear of the unit with the serial number will also show voltage (28V or 14/28v)

Thanks Ryan. I'll wait until we pull it out before committing.

The early ones were 28 only. IIRC the later ones were dual voltage.

You can always use a power inverter if you end up with a 28 volt unit.
